Learning is one of the activities of students in the
classroom. Sucessful learning is only on the right way to lead the process.
Good learning atmosphere and method can guide the students to learn more and
meaningfill. To accomplish such condition, teachers must create variety type
and attractive methods for the class, using vaariety types games can be an
attractive solution to handle when the students get bored: Games as a matter of
fact, can help and encouragebmany students to sustain their interest and work.
There is a common perception that all learning should be serious.

Here are some advantages of using games teaching vocabulary :

students, and help students learn and retain new words more easily.

competition and they keep learners in interested in learning the language.

Games are motivating and challanging
students to get involve and participate actievly in learning activities.

Games provide language practice in
the various skills :speaking, listening, writing and reading.

Games are highly motivating and give
students more opportunity to express their opinoins and fellings.
6.
Vocabulary games bring real world
context into the classroom, and increase student's use of English in flexsible,
meaningful and communicative way.
The role of games in teaching and learning vocabulary can not
be denied. However in order to achieve the most suitable games are choosen.
Whenever a game is to be conducted, the number of student's, proficience level,
cultute context are factors that should be taken into context.
Learning vocabulary through game is one effective and
interesting way that can be applied in any classroom. In this paper the writer
suggest that games are used not only for more fun, but more importantly, for
the useful presenting, practice and review of vocabulary to improve the
learner's coommunicative competence.
2.2. CONCEPTUAL FRAMEWORK
Vocabulary development is a vitae part for every student's
life. In mastering English, they must have an adequate vocabulary. Therefore,
vocabulary is a breath of , a language. Without vocabulary proficiency the
students automatically can not obtain the four skills of English such as
listening, reading, writing and speaking. It is scemed that the bigger
vocabulary they have the easier to do the tasks of listening and reading.
In learning language, vocabulary is a basic need of language
cocnpetences when someone wants to learn English, they should have enough
vocabulary.
In learning vocabulary many method applied by the teacher. The teacher
which are able to invite students' motivation in learning vocabulary. The
variation in teaching influnce the process of learning vocabulary. One
technique to make teaching learning more active is by using chain spellng game,
because by using chain spelling game can be alternative solution to handle when
the students get borred, Mapping also is a way of teaching vocabulary where
students make their own word diagrams.
In obtain those four skills of English, the teacher is
suggested to use an effective strategis or method while teaching vocabulary. By
using the mapping particular hyponym, the students are hoped to find their own
new word that are related to the target word, and then they put all new word
into the arrow gives. Mapping also expected to train the skill of students that
cannot be seen in teaching learning so far. And to find out the effect of using
mapping the writer make a test after giving the treatmnent.
While doing these activities, the teacher should be aware
that it is impossible to memorize the new vocabularies_ Meanwhile, the teacher
has to limit the vocabulary because the more vocabulary the more difficult to
absorb it.
For the reason, the teacher should be careful in choosing the
word on the level of the student's technique and student's abilityt are natural
part of learning process, because technique in teaching must effected to the
student's achievement.
In the study, the hypothesis want to know in e student's
ability constructing vocabulary. Therefore, the writer tries to identify the
effect of using chain spelling games and mapping technique on the student's
ability to build up simple sentence
